(5) Chaughadiyaa
Chaughadiyaa is also a way to know the time of traveling. There are 7 types of prediction about the traveling at different times of the day and night. When one wishes to travel for any auspicious work, and you don't find any auspicious Muhoort (time) then one should check for the best Chaughadiyaa and do that work. The best Chaughadiyaa are - Amrit, Shubh, Laabh and Char; the rest - Udweg, Rog and Kaal Chaughadiyaa are bad. In this a day means sunrise time to sunset time; and the night is the sunset time to sunrise time. Both periods are divided in 8 parts separately and they denote their results of traveling in the following way according to this table.

How to Use This Table
Below is given the table showing the result of traveling at different Chaughadiyaa. Their interpretation is given below --
Udweg means some kind of sorrow or unpleasantness;
Amrit means very good, as if somebody has drank Amrit
Rog means that some kind of disease is expected, maybe mental or physical
Laabh means profit
Shubh means good
Char means movable - it is a difficult concept, eg if you are going to earn some money, the earned money will move by traveling in this
Chaughadiyaa; but if you are going to a doctor to treat yourself for some disease, you would like it to move away. So one has to see what
   does he want.
Kaal means death

(1) Traveling By Birth Nakshatra - Brihad Yaatraa by Varaah Mihir
In Brihad Yaatraa of Varaah Mihir came across something interesting --

A verse lists the Nakshatra in which the planets themselves were born. It goes on to advise that if the birth Nakshatra of a planet is afflicted, then the planet's presence in the Lagna should be avoided for travel.

--Sun was born in Vishaakhaa Nakshatra,
--Moon was born in Krittikaa Nakshatra.
--Mars was born in P-Aashaadhaa Nakshatra,
--Mercury was born in Shravan Nakshatra,
--Jupiter was born in P-Phaalgunee Nakshatra,
--Venus was born in Pushya Nakshatra,
--Saturn was born in Revatee Nakshatra,
--Raahu was born in Bharanee Nakshatra,
--Ketu was born in Aashlesha Nakshatra

--If the birth Nakshatra of a planet (as described in the previous verse) is afflicted by a powerful (enemy) planet then the three kinds of calamities (1. Adhi-daivik, 2. Adhi-bhautik, 3. Adhyatmik) may result. Even if the planet is otherwise favorable, its presence in the Lagna at the time of commencement of travel should be avoided.
