Lavanaasur

His story comes in Vaalmeeki Raamaayan, Uttar Kaand, Sarg 61, 62, 63, 67, 68, and 69. Rishi request to Raam to kill him and Raam sends Shatrughn to kill him to Madhu Van, as he lived there.

Lavanaasur was Madhu Daitya's son. He was very powerful. In fact he had a scepter which was Amogh (which never fails) to kill, and at the same time nobody could kill him until it was with him. He got it from his father.

He always used to go out in the morning in search of food, and came back home with lot many animals killed for his food. Except going out for food, whenever he went out he always kept that scepter with him so that nobody could kill him; in the morning he did not care for anybody.

When Shatrughn, Raam's youngest brother, had to kill him, he was advised that he should kill that Raakshas when he goes out in search of food in the morning because at that time he didn't carry that scepter, because he could only kill him when he didn't have that scepter. So Shatrughn caught him when he was going out in the morning to collect his food, and since he didn't have the scepter with him, he was soon killed by him.

After killing him, Shatrughn then inhabited Mathuraa Nagaree at the same place.
