Parashuraam

Parashuraam Jee is the sixth incarnation of Vishnu. He emptied Prithvi from Kshatriya 21 times. He was born to Maharshi Jamadagni and Renukaa. His name was Raam but because he had received a Parashu (axe) from Shiv to destroy evil people on Earth he is known as Parashuraam.

Once Parashuraam's mother Renukaa went to river to bring water for Jamadagni's Poojaa. There she saw Gandharv Raaj playing with his wives in the river. For a moment she got lost in her thoughts, then she gathered herself, collected water from the river and came back to Aashram. But she was a bit late for Rishi's Poojaa. Rishi understood. He got angry at this and ordered his eldest son to cut her neck. He refused to obey his father. Even his other sons also refused to comply with his order.

When Jamadagani Jee asked his youngest son Parashuraam to cut the neck of all his brothers and mother, he did so immediately. Jamadagni got very pleased with Parashuraam and asked him to ask for any Var. Parashuraam said - "If you are pleased with me, please revive my brothers and mother, besides they should not remember anything after waking up, they should feel as if they have awaken from a deep sleep." Jamadagni did this almost immediately. After they became alive, they did not remember anything, they just said - "Oh, We slept so sound."

Parashuraam and Arjun
There was a King named Arjun of Haihaya Vansh. Once he came to the Aashram of Jamadagni. Jamadagni asked him to stay overnight. He stayed there with his army wondering how he the Rishi would felicitate him and his large army. Now Rishi had a wishful cow (daughter of Nandinee) to assist him in his Yagya jobs, so he asked her to produce all necessary things for them. Seeing the cow Arjun got very surprised and wanted to have that cow for himself, but Jamadagni told him that he could not give that cow to him as first of all she was the gift from her mother to him, secondly she served his Aashram.

At this Arjun wanted to take her by force but she produced such a large army from her pores that Arjun's soldiers ran away from there. Once his sons cut the neck of the Rishi and stole that cow. Renukaa called Parashuraam but he got late in coming. By the time he came Arjun's sons had gone. Parashuraam went to Arjun's place and killed everybody except his four sons. He came back to the Aashram and joined his father's neck to his body and brought him to life. Jamadagni said - "Son, You have not done good, we are Braahman, you should not have killed the king." and asked him to do Praayashchit by going on pilgrimage. So Parashuraam Jee went on pilgrimage. He emptied this Prithvi from Kshatriya 21 times and built 5 large tanks of blood which got known as Samant Panchak.

Once he met Raam when Raam broke the old bow of Shiv Jee. He had a long hot exchange with Lakshman then when asked "how could he be satisfied" he said - "Have a dual fight with me." and gave his own bow to Him. As he was giving the bow to Raam, it itsekf went to Him. Seeing this he got very surprised, he blessed them and went away from there..

Parashuraam and His Disciples
Parashuraam Jee was a very good Guru. Several famous people were his disciples. He taught Bheeshm who later defeated him in a dual fight. He taught Karn from whom he did not ask any Guru Dakshinaa saying that "only fortunate Guru gets a disciple like you." Although later he got angry with him and took away all the education from him. He taught Dronaachaary too. When Drone did not get any job after coming from Gurukul and was not able to afford even milk for his young son, he heard that Parashuraam was distributing his wealth before going to forest. So he went to him and told his purpose of coming there. But he was a bit late. By the time he went to him, he had already given his all wealth, including this Prithvi, to Braahman. But he had the knowledge of his weapons if he was interested to learn them. Drone said that he would like to learn those weapons from him. After learning those weapons from Parashuram, he became invincible.
