Shiv Temples-Introduction

There are many Shiv temples. Everyone has some kind of legend behind it, and many of them some kind of special features. Some of the special features are given here -

The tallest Gopuram  (249 feet) --- Murudeshwar Temple

Second Tallest Shiv Statue (20 storied, 123 feet) ---  Murudeshwar Temple. The statue was built by Shivamogga's Kashinath and several other sculptors, financed by a businessman and philanthropist RN Shetty, at a cost of approximately 50 million Rupees. The idol is designed such that it gets the sun light directly and thus appears sparkling. Originally, the statue had four arms, and was adorned in gold paint. However, large wind gusts blew its one arm off, and rains dissolved the paint.

The tallest statue (143 feet) ---  Kailaashnaath (in Nepaal) - This is the tallest Shiv statue located in Nepaal and is made by an Indian, Kamal Jain. It took 7 years to build. You can know more about this on www.hilltake.com   or   www.kailashnathmahadevstatue.co.cc (Murudeshwar Fort): a fort present behind the Temple.
