Shiv Khoree Temple

The Shiv Khoree Shrine, purely dedicated to the Shiv, is situated on a hillock in Ransoo village of Tahaseel Reasi of the Udhampur District in Jammu region of the Jammu & Kashmir state. This holy cave is nearly a kilometer long and houses a 4 feet high, naturally formed Shiv Ling. It is considered second only to the shrine of Maataa Vaishnav Devee Temple in religious importance. There are stalactites and stalagmites dripping milky limestone water.

To the left of Shiv Ling, Paarvatee is symbolized by impression of Her Holy feet. Kaarttikeya is also seen to left of Shiv Ling. At nearly 2.5 feet above, five headed Ganesh can be seen. This holy cave has a number of other natural images which are believed to be that of 33 crores Hindu Deities.

The cave roof is etched with snake like formations, the water trickles through these formations of the cave. Three pronged lance depicting the Trident (Trishool) of Shiv and Six-Mouthed Shesh Naag are also seen on the roof of the cave. The main portion of cave roof has round cutting mark signifying construction of cave by Sudarshan Chakra of Vishnu.

Buses and light vehicles go up to village Ransoo, surrounded by lush green mountains. Pilgrims have to track from Ransoo to the caves about 3 Kilometers on foot. This track is being constructed by the Shree Shiv Khoree Shrine Development Board. The road distance to Ransoo from major cities of Jammu is -
