Brahmaand Puraan is the 18th Puraan in the row of 18 Puraan. It is divided in four parts and contains 12,000 Shlok (verses)

It deals with creation of Brahmaand (cosmic egg) and description of Bhaarat Varsh. The other contents are about Shraaddh etc in addition to stories of Bhageerath, Parashuraam, Dhanvantari etc. A very important portion of this Puraan is the Lalitopaakhyaan in 40 chapters which includes the famous Lalitaa Sahastra Naam. This Puraan contains Adhyaatm Raamaayan also which consists of 4,200 Shlok. It is said that this Raamaayan is the basis of Tulasee's Maanas.
