Introduction to Kalki Puraan Kalki Puraan lists the times and life of Kalki Bhagvaan - the 10th, or 24th, or the last Avataar. It is considered an Upa-Puraan, still it draws many passages directly from 18 Mahaa Puraan. It is set in the environment of 4320th century of Kali Yug. It seems that it existed before 16th century AD as Jaayasee's Padmaavat (1540 AD) has a reference to it. Its text is divided in three parts - 7, 7 and 21 chapters respectively. It says that sin will increase in Kali Yug. After Krishn Avataar of Dwaapar Yug, the Varn system will deteriorate in the beginning of Kali Yug. Soon after this the second, third and fourth stages will also begin. During the second and third stages, people will forget the name of god and will not do any Yagya. During the last stage of kali Yug, cannibalism will be virtually everywhere. TO save the people from this awkward situation Devtaa will go to Brahmaa Jee and request for a solution. Near the end of this Yug, they will go to Vaikunth to pray Vishnu and the Vishnu will descend on Earth as Kalki Avataar to end people's miseries. Kalki Avataar Its 12th Adhyaaya says - "Jagat Guru will be born of Vishnuvagat‘ in the womb of Sumati. He will be born ’2 hours after sunrise‘ on Monday, the 12th of Vaishaakh. His father will die before his birth and his mother some time later after his birth. Jagat Guru will marry the princess of the Shaalmal island. His uncle and three brothers will be present in his marriage ceremony. Pars-Raam will teach him in a cave. When he will come to Sambal from ‘Shaalmal island, to preach his teachings, his relatives will oppose him. He will be bound to migrate to the Northern Hills to avoid the on-going torture and persecution. But after some time, he will return to Sambal with a sword in hand and will ‘conquer the whole land. Jagat Guru will visit earth and the seven heavens riding on a horse." [Read its Muslim Version] He will come to the house of Vishnuyash and Sumati on Vaishaakh Shukla 12. It is believed that Vishnuyash and Sumati would have three sons before the birth of Kalki - Kavi, Praagya and Sumantra. He will pass his childhood in Shambhal kingdom. many Chiranjeevee (Immortals) will gather there and Kalki will be trained in Martial Arts by Parashuraam Jee. After His education and training, he will start penance for Shiv in the Himaalaya. He will receive a winged horse, named Devadatt, a celestial parrot (Shuk), and a Ratn Maru named sword from Shiv. He will marry Padmaa (the incarnation of Vishnu's consort Lakshmee) and will have two sons, Jaya and Vijaya, from Her. Then He will perform Ashwamedh Yagya before starting the final destruction of evil. He will begin this with battle and will end in massacre of the Shoonyavaadee who would misled the people at the city of Keekatpur. Kalki will fight with demon Generals Kokaa and Vikokaa. Kali will be defeated by Dharm, a personification of Sat Yug. Kalki will kill Kokaa and Vikokaa. Finally Kalki will be challenged by Raajaa Shashidhwaj and will accept defeat voluntarily from him and marry his daughter Ramaa, His second wife, before the start of Sat Yug. Advent of Sat Yug Kalki will then divide the Earth and appoint his Generals as their in-charge and perform Ashwamedh and Raajsooya Yagya for Devtaa. Vishnuyash and Sumati will go to Badarik Aashram where they will live until their death. He will have two sons more Meghmaal and Balaahak and then will rein in Shambhal kingdom for 1,000 years. After this Devtaa will come to Kalki and make a request to return to Vaikinth. He will have ritual bath in Gangaa River, assume His Chatur-bhuj Roop of Vishnu and will go back to His Dhaam.
