Body
See also     Avataar    Types of Body

(1) Body means a group of anything, for example,
--body of psychological literature,
--they formed a body to control the use of pesticide

(2) There are three types of body (see them in detail Types of Body) -

(1) Physical Body (Gross Body) - Bhautik Shareer or Sthool Shareer. It is called Gross Body because it is the combination of all the three bodies. This is the body which live in this world. We can see it, touch it. There are nine stages of this body - (1) conception, (2) growth of fetus, (3) birth, (4) childhood, (5) adolescence, (6) youth, (7) mature age, (8) old age, and (9) death.

(2) Subtle Body (Astral Body or Minute Body) - Sookshm Shareer, or Ling Shareer. This is the body, very small in size, lives inside the physical body, and is the dwelling place of Soul.

(3) Causal Body (Seed Body) - Kaaran Shareer. Since Karm never die, they go with the soul. It is a kind of database or storage of all the Karm done in all the past lives. This is the basis of getting new body after a being is dead. It is joined with Subtle Body and never gets separated from it.

For example: The shell of a tamarind corresponds to the physical body. The pulp represents the subtle body and its seed corresponds to the causal body. The Tanmaatraa or root-elements correspond to the causal body.

When a person dies, his Physical Body remains in this world. It is burnt or cremated or destroyed according to one's own beliefs. Since Subtle body is the house of Praan, when Praan leaves the Physical Body, it goes with the Praan. Causal Body are the bundle of Karm (actions) we have done in our all previous lives, they never die and are the basis of getting the new body so that also has to go with Praan and Subtle Body. Thus when a person dies, three things leave the Physical Body - Praan, Subtle Body and the Causal Body.

(3) There are three other types of bodies -
1) Empirical Body - or worldly body, that is our physical body, human body, which we can touch and which enjoys life;
(2) Dream Body which we see in dreams - we cannot see it, we can feel by that body but we cannot touch it; thus although it is a body but still it is not a body; and
(3) The third body is Avataar's body - they come for some purpose and go away. These bodies have no mind. Because we need mind to get knowledge. Since Avataar don't need any kind of knowledge, because they already have it, that is why they don't need this mind, so they don't have it. Otherwise they are like human beings but certainly with special powers of God. An Avataar possesses all the characteristics of God.
