Numbers 10-108

Numbers are not only just to use in mathematics but they denote something more too --

10 Commandments (Bible)
(1) You shall have no other gods before me.
(2) You shall not make for yourself any carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
(3) You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
(4) Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
(5) Honor thy father and  mother.
(6) You shall not murder.
(7) You shall not commit adultery.
(8) You shall not steal.
(9) You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
(10) You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor’s.

10 Dimensions
There are 10 dimensions --
(1) 0 dimension - is point space called Chitta. In every such space Aanand (bliss) can be felt. The same 10 dimension is called Aanand also.
(2) Dimension 1 - is line (Pad or Rekhaa) measured in Yojan or Ahargan
(3) Dimension 2 - Two surfaces - Prishth.
(4) Dimension 3 - Volume. Stome or Aayatan.
(5) Dimension 4 - Matter. Anna or Brahmaa, measured in Aseeti Chhand (meter of poetry)
(6) Dimension 5 - Kaal. perception of change is Shiv. It is of 3 types - Nitya - steady decay; Janya - cyclic change; Akshaya - conserved
(7) Dimension 6 - Chayan. Ordering in space
(8) Dimension 7 - Rishi. It is link between any two objects by 4 basic forces.
(9) Dimension 8 - Naag. It is limiting an object in curved surface.
(10) Dimension 9 - Randhra. Deficit of any matter or energy at a place is cause of change

For different purposes, 5 to 10 dimensions are sufficient, so there are 6 Darshan (Philosophy) and 6 Darsh Vaak (scripts). Mechanical world described by Physics is 5 dimensional in the sense that 5 basic units are needed for measurement (5 Maa Chhand). Next are 6 levels of consciousness. It is called Chetanaa as it does Chayan = ordering. Ordering in space is dimension 6, Link among them is 7, curved boundary is 8, and difference of density is 9. Finally, unique original source is dimension 10.

10 Dishaa (Directions)
There are 10 directions - (1) Uttar (North) (2) Uttar-Poorv (Northeast, (3) Poorv (East), (4) Dakshin-Poorv (Southeast), (5) Dakshin (South), (6) Dakshin-Pashchim (Southwest), (7) Paschim (West), (8) Pashchim-Uttar or Pashchimottar (Northwest) (9) Sky above, and (10) Paataal down.

There were 10 heads of Raavan

10 Indriyaan
If the 10 Indriyaan of human body are Shuddh (without any evil) then they are called ten Vairaagin, they are -
(1) Five Gyaan Indriyaan gives us knowledge - eyes by seeing, ears by hearing, skin by touching, nose by smelling, and tongue by tasting.
(2) Five Karm Indriyaan are for doing daily duties of our life - hands to donate something to somebody, feet to go to Bhagavaan's Darshan, anus to excrete solid wastage, procreation organs,

Above all is Man or mind which controls all these Indriyaan. If Man wants, it can control the action of all these ten Indriyaan. That is why it is said that "If you have control on your Man, you have control on your body." If these 10 Indriyaan of human body are Shuddh (without any evil) then they are called ten Vairaagin.

10 Mahaa-vidyaa
There are 10 Mahaa-vidyaa. Mahaa Vidyaa means "Great Wisdom". They are the 10 aspects of the Divine Mother or Devee. They are considered Taantrik in nature, and are usually identified as :-
(1) Kaalee - Devourer of Time (Supreme Deity of Kaalee Kul Systems)
(2) Taaraa - the Goddess as Guide and Protector
(3) Lalitaa Tripur-sundaree - Shodashee - The most beautiful in the three worlds (Supreme Deity of Shree Kul Systems). The Taantrik Paarvatee or Moksh Mukutaa
(4) Bhuvaneshwaree - The Goddess as World Mother
(5) Bhairavee - the fierce Goddess
(6) Chinnmastaa - the Self-Decapitated Goddess
(7) Dhoomaavatee - the Widow Goddess
(8) Bagalaamukhee - The Goddess who paralyzes enemies
(9) Maatangee - the Prime Minister of Lalitaa, the Taantrik Saraswatee
(10) Kamalaa - the Lotus Goddess, the Taantrik Lakshmee

Bhaagvat Puraan lists Shodashee as Tripur Sundaree - just another name.

10 Numbers
Numbers are 10 - 0,  1,  2,  3,  4,  5,  6,  7,  8,  9.

10 Types of Vaayu
There are ten types of Vaayu (wind) in our body: Praan, Apaan, Samaan, Udayaan, Vayaan, Naag, Karm, Krikaal, Devadatt, Dhananjaya. When Praan Vaayu goes out of the body, we die.


11 Rudra

(1) Dhaataa, (2) Aryamaa, (3) Savitaa, (4) Varun, (5) Ansh, (6) Bhag, (7) Indra, (8) Vivaswaan, (9) Pooshaa, (10) Twashtaa, (11) Parjanya, and (12) Vaaman (Trivikram).

12 Jyotir Ling

12 Raashi (Astrological Signs)
There are twelve Raashi (Signs) through which the nine Grah (planets) travel. The total time period of this travel is calculated as 120 years. These Raashi are:
(1) Mesh - Aries, (2) Vrishabh - Taurus, (3) Mithun - Gemini, (4) Kark - Cancer, (5) Sinh - Leo, (6) Kanyaa - Virgo,  (7) Tulaa - Libra,
(8) Vrishchik - Scorpio, (9) Dhanu - Saggitarius, (10) Makar - Capricorn, (11) Kumbh - Aquarius, (12) Meen - Pisces

Every Grah (Planet) has a different time span for each Raashi. These 12 Raashi are equally distributed around the Earth - 30 degrees each.


13 in Christianity
In Christianity, Thirteen number is a bad number and omen. Because when Jesus had his Last Supper, they were Thirteen people on the table. many hotels do not have 13th floor, many people do not travel on 13th etc.

13 Months in Julian Calendar
Julian calendar has Thirteen Months. Ethiopians observe this calendar. In this calendar all Twelve Months are of 30 days each, but then they have a short Thirteenth Month of 5 days. This calendar starts from September 11.

There are 27 Nakshatra through which all nine planets go through -

Among these 28 names the 22nd name is not really a Nakshatra. It is the name of the time period.

40 is an important number in different religions --
(1) In Hindu religion, 40-45 days are spent in normal Saadhanaa for a Deity. These 40 days are called Mandal also.
(2) In Hindu religion, a newly mother gets clean after 40 days of her child birth.
(3) In Hindu religion,
(4) In Christian religion, Jesus Christ wandered in the desert for 40 days.
(5) In Judaism, Moses also wandered for 40 days.

100 in Literature
There are a few literature pieces in Hindi and Sanskrit languages containing 100 names, verses, poems etc. Shatak means 100. There are 100 pieces of poems, or verses in each of the following books --
(1) Shringaar Shatak, by  Bhartrihari  - 100 verses on love
(2) Neeti Shatak, by Bhartrihari - 100 verses on morals
(3) Vairaagya Shatak, by Bhartrihari - 100 verses on atonement
(4) Chandee Shatak, by Baan Bhatt - 100 verses as prayer to Chandee Devee
(5) Nirvaan Shatak, by Shankaraachaarya
(6) Soorya Shatak, by Mayoor - 100 verses as prayer of Soorya Dev
(7) Shat Rudreeya (Rudra Adhyaaya), in Yajur Ved, and in Skand Puraan, Maaheshwar Khand (13, 144b-194), contains 100 worshippers' names, 100 Ling names and 100 names of Shiv


108 Beads in Hindu Rosary
(1) Normally 108 beads are in Hindu rosary to do Jap of any Mantra or God's name.
(2) There are 54 letters in Sanskrit alphabet. If you write them from both sides they become 108.

365 Days in a Year
There are 365 days in one year.


666
Christians believe numbers 666 and 13 are unlucky numbers. Hindu consider No 13 as impure. There are some stories behind it. The Book of Revelation (13:16-18) in the Bible mention 666 as the number of the beast.

When the US President Reagan moved to California his house number was 666. You can guess what he did immediately. He changed his house number to 668.

Hexakosioihexekonta hexaphobiacs is the term for people who fear the number 666. Can you pronounce this word? Dont do it. 666 will catch you!

Mountain Bible College in Kentucky, USA was given a phone number with the prefix 666. They thought it may put off students joining the college due to the popular belief that it was the sign of the Devil. Immediately they applied for changing the number. When asked for an explanation, the Vice President of the college said, True Christians will not accept the mark of the Beast.

17. And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

700 number is a very less known in Hindu literature. There are a few books which contains 700 pieces of poetry. Such books are --
(1) Bhagvad Geetaa - it contains 700 Shlok.
(2) Durgaa Sapt Shatee - it contains 700 Shlok under its 13 chapters
(3) Bihaaree Satasaee - it contains 700 Dohaa (couplets)
